Friends of Hospice was established in May 1994 as a non-profit organization with the sole mandate to support Bermuda’s only hospice Agape House by fundraising, providing therapeutic and emotional support programmes, and volunteer services. We are Bermuda Registered Charity #391. It is our firm belief that everyone deserves the right to comfort and dignity in their final days as well as specialized palliative care. We, at Friends of Hospice and Agape House, subscribe to a holistic approach, providing hospice and palliative care support services that are complementary to patients’ medical care. As serious illness progresses, every day is precious. We not only provide support to our patients, but to their families and loved ones, honouring their wishes, and minimizing discomfort as much as possible so that they may enjoy life, and create cherished days and memories together. We offer volunteer companions, special meals, and therapy services to complement medical treatment. All of the services offered by Friends of Hospice are unique to a hospice setting and all programmes are provided free of charge to participants. It is our aim for each and every person we serve, particularly those who are at end of life, to live their days in comfort and with dignity. We continuously review our service delivery to ensure that we are operating at best practices.
